In an emergency, always dial 911.

For any medical emergency, always call 9-1-1.  When MetCom or Bloomington Communications receives your call, the computer-aided dispatch system immediately begins to track your location and what responders the dispatcher needs to send for your care.

When you call, remain calm and be prepared to answer the following questions before you hang up:

  • The location of the victim -- if in a rural part of the community, be prepared to give detailed instructions on how to get to the victim.
  • Your name and the phone number you are calling from -- this information is important if for any reason we need more information about the victim's location or condition.
  • The nature of the emergency -- chest pain, shortness of breath, seizure, etc.
  • The victim's current condition -- conscious? breathing?
    1. The dispatcher may keep you on the line in order to provide you with detailed instructions on what you can do before the ambulance arrives. Be patient and let the dispatcher hang up the phone first!

      Service
      Medivan

Lifeline's Medivan wheelchair service provides a safe, alternative means of transportation for individuals who use wheelchairs.  Door-to-door service is also available to individuals who are ambulatory but require special help to and from their destination.

Medivan operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 7:00pm.  Limited Saturday services are available.

Our services are frequently used by individuals going to and from doctor's appointments, returning from the hospital, and going to and from work.  Appointments can be made for transportation to grocery stores, shopping malls, and any other location.

In order to provide timely service we ask that you call to set up your appointment at least one week in advance. The cost of the service is $20 and is payable at pick-up. Some insurance and medical plans cover the cost of the transportation. To see if your insurance does cover the service, please call us in advance so we can verify your coverage.

To set up an appointment, check insurance coverage, or answer any questions you may have, feel free to contact us.
